Found footage of a Montreal girl’s trip turns sinister as the textures and unnatural rhythms of VHS are haunted by half-remembered nightmares from the past. With SHITTING A PENIS, Sam Morgan transforms a found object into a dark and uncomfortable exploration of memory and identity. In an era of image overabundance, what happens to what has been recorded? Are there people trapped forever on tapes, hard drives, and phones, enshrouded mirrors of selves, caught on repeat?
